Mazolu Animal Sanctuary is a registered 501 (c) (3) nonprofit animal sanctuary located in South Windsor, Connecticut. We are funded by private donations and staffed by volunteer workers of all ages from all walks of life. The Sanctuary was started in 2021 by Jessica Waterhouse who has dedicated her life to healing and nurturing animals who suffered abuse, abandonment and neglect.
Mazolu Animal Sanctuary homes animals who have been adopted through rescue or surrendered and are given proper care, rehabilitation*, and a safe place to live out their lives. There is space available to foster animals from local rescues and local animal control for emergency shelter.
*Rehabilitation means health and behavioral.
After spending one month volunteering with Pack Leaders Rescue, I knew I wanted to work with animals and create a sanctuary for all types of animals. Giving them a home to live their best life, something many rescue animals have not had. At the time I had three dogs: Maddie, Zoe, and Luna. Taking the first letters of their names I came up with Mazolu. It felt magical and the perfect fit for what I wanted to do. Knowing I am not the right fit for all animals, I want to assist in fostering and finding furever homes for animals. This new endeavor is something I hope to build upon and make Mazolu a safe haven for animals. Special thanks to Tori and Montana Cateni for their support and guidance through this process!
The animals of Mazolu have over 4 acres to run and play. Recently we fenced in an 80 X 80 piece of land for the dogs to run freely and safely. Fenced in turnouts for the goats and pig. The barn has four large stalls and a tack room for volunteers to spend time with animals.
Our amazing team of volunteers are committed to helping animals in our community. Our volunteers walk, feed, groom, clean and play with animals. Think you would be a good fit? See our contact page for more information!
